Civics: Mt. Anderson Public Court Hearing Details: Public attendance is encouraged at these public court hearings regarding the shutdown of Contractor’s Concrete Recycling on MLK Jr. Way, colloquially known as “Mt. Anderson”. We’re expecting to learn more about an agreed plan for a cleanup. Many West Hill residents have major health and environmental concerns regarding Mt. Anderson, and finding a viable solution is necessary. Attendance by community members at these hearings, presided over by Judge Brian Gain, has been stated as of critical importance to the progress made so far. Music: Low Hums- Details:Low Hums are Jonas Haskins, Miles Panto, Bill Patton, Mike Bayer and Chris Early. Mostly hanging out in the south end of Seattle, Low Hums have rehearsed many nights of free form freakout into a concise 45 minutes of songs, give or take. But this isn’t just music/magic for Zappa heads, there are some real pop gems here. The music of Low Hums // psychedelic, garage, rock N roll, drone, folk, twang. Community: Y-WE Leadership Program Open HouseDetails: Y-WE is hosting a drop in open house this Saturday for anyone intersted in learning more about our Leadership Program. Education UNCF Black College FairDetails: The UNCF Black College Fair promotes the importance of higher education to African American and other underrepresented and low-income students in the states of Washington and Oregon. The fair will be held at the Northwest African American Museum, located in the historic Colman School, to create a one-of-a kind historical and educational experience in Seattle’s Central District. The Black College Fair is open to all high school and transfer students throughout the Pacific Northwest and will feature representatives from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), local colleges/universities, scholarship organizations and other educational groups. In addition to meeting recruiters from around the country, students will have the opportunity to enter to win raffle prizes, interact with speaker panels and enjoy the museum free of charge.
