WHY DO WE WALK THE HOT SPOTS OF RAINIER BEACH FOR CHANGE?
No doubt, this community has been plagued with violent crimes, drugs and gang activity. We walk to increase the awareness of the issues affecting this community as we promote positive social change and participation. As an extension of the Father’s Day celebration, the Walk for Change will celebrate FATHERHOOD, FAMILY and COMMUNITY as we encourage, provoke and inspire all to view fatherhood as a powerful entity that is strong enough to invoke change. Our focus is on strengthening the relationships between fathers and sons. Fathers/mentors with their sons and families will walk together as a symbol of unity. Studies have shown that when a FATHER is present, positive and active in a child’s life, it increases the success of that child. Together We Are Strong. We are on a Mission to Succeed.
WHO ARE WE?
FAST is a grassroots 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. We are a preventive versus an “intervention” organization designed to strengthen the relationship between a father and son.
