Community: Life Skills to Work: Career Readiness Training Program– Details: The Life-Skills-to-Work (LSW) process provides students with the Learn-to-Learn & Cognitive Behavior skill-sets needed for successful transition from prison & jail back to the community. Music: Urban Mix 101 presented by Itech 4 Life Solutions– Details: An intro to the fundamentals of Digital Audio Recording and Music production. Students will be familiarized with the Protools(DigiDesign) work environment as well as the Reasons workspace. Students will also be introduced to an analog mixing console and learn how the digital and analog systems correlate in a typical recording environment. Environment: Resilience at the Crossroads of Race and Climate Justice– Details: Come discuss the state and structural violence which occurs because of environmental racism and how building an intersectional movement led by frontline communities is necessary. It is the 10 year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, with numerous harmful and unjust results that occur when government doesn’t resource or support climate vulnerable communities, especially working class black and brown communities. Community: 5th of July Clean Up!– Details: We’ll meet at the picnic tables on the West side of the field by the restrooms. Doughnuts and water will be provided as will garbage bags. Community: Backstreet Bazaar One Year Anniversary– Details:Happy birthday to the Backstreet Bazaar! Come celebrate the volunteers, artists, performers, chefs, and community that have helped make Backstreet Bazaar so awesome. We took a trip around the sun and had 12 amazing events this year, each with unique art, music, food and style. Join us, and share with us what you loved about Backstreet Bazaar as we prepare to provide you with another year of unique events. This event will feature wood-fire pizzas prepared in the garden, many ingredients were grown right here at the collaboratory. A fresh pizza is only $5! Inside we will have live music by Dub Car, an awesome local reggae band and BYOV by our in house vinyl expert. Our walls will have the wonderful art of photographer Brian Wells and numerous artists represented in our Community Gallery.Our beer sponsor this month will be Machine House Brewery.
