Music: The Black Tones– Details:The Black Tones started in 2011 with twin siblings Eva and Cedric. Their music is inspired by the old souls of blues and rock n roll. The Black Tones have opened for bands such as NighTrain (Seattle), Hot Panda (Canada), The Pauses (Florida), The Rockonigles (California) and many others. Recently the band performed with the students of School of Rock Seattle as they performed The Black Tones’ song “Woman in Black” in a showcase the school put on themed HERSTORY, dedicated to women in rock n roll. Clean-Up: WHAM Action Party– Details:The City of Renton is commemorating September 11th by hosting service projects on September 12th. King County Parks will be hosting WHAM (West Hill Action Mob) and LDS church members in an ongoing effort to restore natural areas in the park that have already been cleared of weeds on previous WHAM events. Clean-up: Show Up & Show Out: Hillman City Community Clean Up Day– Details:THIS IS OUR COMMUNITY! Join us in supporting OUR community. We will be doing several projects to help clean up our community including but not limited to weed-whacking, litter pick up, and graffiti removal. Along side us local students and artist will be adopting planter boxes and painting the outside. This day will be more than beautifying our community but it will bring us all a little closer together, and hopeful spark ideas and interest in how we can continue to support our community holistically.

Community: Find It, Fix It Walk in Hillman City– Details: In 2014, Mayor Ed Murray initiated Find It, Fix It Community Walks, a series of Mayor-led walks that help improve neighborhoods one block at a time. During these walks, neighbors, police, and City officials walk together to identify physical elements in the neighborhood that make it feel unsafe or poorly maintained. Examples include overgrown trees, graffiti, street light outages, and litter. Once the elements are identified, the City and community work together to fix the problems.HERE ARE JUST A FEW WAYS YOU CAN GET INVOLVED: Download the City’s Find-it, Fix-it App on your mobile device or tablet. Community: Urban Mix 101 presented by Itech 4 Life Solutions– Details: An intro to the fundamentals of Digital Audio Recording and Music production. Students will be familiarized with the Protools(DigiDesign) work environment as well as the Reasons workspace. Students will also be introduced to an analog mixing console and learn how the digital and analog systems correlate in a typical recording environment.
