Explosion at Rainier Avenue Hair Salon

An explosion occurred Thursday morning in the 4400 block of Rainier Avenue South near South Genesee Street in a building that is occupied by Major Styles Natural Beauty Salon.

Traffic is being diverted from both directions of Rainier Avenue South while firefighters assess the damage and began investigating.

There are no reports of injuries at this time.

Metro bus service in both directions on Rainier Avenue S between S Alaska St and MLK Jr. S has been restored after being temporarily diverted; the stop southbound on Rainier Ave S just south of S Genesse St is closed.
