European Dissent Issues First National Statement

European Dissent, a national network of white anti-racist organizers who work in accountability with the People’s Institute for Survival and Beyond and boasts a very active Seattle chapter, issued their first national statement this week.

The 4-page statement offers a comprehensive overview of European Dissent including mission, purpose, history, guiding principles, accountability and more.  The document also includes a poem entitled “Why We Organize to Undo Racism” which was written by white folks across the country doing anti-racism organizing and reads in part:

“…When we organize
We see glimpses of what humanity can achieve.
When we organize
We are more free, more loving, more fair.
When we divest from the myths of racism
We grow into the fullness of our beings.
We begin to build loving, healthy, multiracial
communities.
We regain what was stolen…”

The next European Dissent Seattle Community Meeting is Monday night 11/21 at Madrona Grace Church at 6pm.
This month’s meeting will include an anti-racist educational and arts activity for the kids.
