Skyway Opens New Medical Clinic at the Cynthia A Green Center
Tuesday morning brought the official opening of Healthpoint Medical Clinic at the Cynthia A Green Center (12704 76th Ave S Seattle, WA 98178).
The clinic will be open on Tuesday and Thursdays from 8:00am to 5:00pm and will offer Family Medicine – for adults, seniors, and children – family planning, immunizations and well-child exams, physicals and annual exams, diabetes education, behavioral health and counseling services, and nutrition counseling.
Clinic staff is fluent in both English and Spanish. 83 visitors have already been served during the clinics month-long soft opening.
Healthpoint is currently the only medical facility dedicated to serving the Skyway area. Payment is based on a sliding fee (dependent on income and family size) and is available for those without insurance. Appointments can be made at 206-839-3540.
Be’er Sheva Park Design Party This Saturday!
#Where’s the Beach!?!? Inquiring minds want to know. On Saturday, there will be the first of three public meetings to hear from the Rainier Beach community about the improvements they would like to see made to Be’er Sheva Park. Taking place at the Somali Community Service Center (8810 Renton Ave S), from Noon to 3:00 p.m., come grub down on food provided by Drae’s Lake Route Cafe, move to beats of Esai and Rell B Free and the Somali Youth Dancers, kick it with your neighbors, and share your ideas for design improvements at Be’er Sheva Park (survey found here)!
This design process, which is part of the Rainier Beach Neighborhood Plan, is funded by the Seattle Department of Neighborhoods and the Seattle Parks Foundation. This project is part of the Link2Lake project, a community-led effort to improve the connection between the Rainier Beach Light Rail Station & Lake Washington. The Link2Lake Steering Committee is comprised of Rainier Beach neighbors and community organizations, including the Rainier Beach Action Coalition, Rainier Beach: A Beautiful Safe Place for Youth, Rainier Beach Merchants Association, and Life Enrichment Group.

City of Seattle Seeking Community Input to Determine New Permanent Police Chief
To help select a permanent Chief of Police to lead the Seattle Police Department, the City of Seattle is kicking off public outreach by launching an online Community Input Survey to allow Seattle residents to provide their input during the search process.
Seattle community members can visit http://www.seattle.gov/policechiefsearch to complete the survey. In the upcoming weeks, a series of community events and workshops will be announced to allow Seattle residents to share their thoughts in person on the personal characteristics and professional experience that are most important for the individual leading our police.
The 25 member Police Search Committee is comprised of a broad range of community leaders, including many with extensive and unique experience in criminal justice reform and policing. Led by four co-chairs, this diverse Search Committee is leading a national search process to find the best candidate for Seattle’s next police chief and is working with a national search firm, Public Sector Search & Consulting, to gather and screen applications. Following the community engagement process, the Police Search Committee will conduct interviews with applicants, the Search Committee will submit their recommendations to Mayor Durkan.
Man shot at Greentree Apartments Sustains No Life-Threatening Injuries
A man was shot twice near the Greentree Apartment complex in Skyway around 10pm Monday night. The man’s injuries are not considered life-threatening. Greentree Apartments are just south of Skyway Park. Authorities are investigating after the man claimed that he didn’t know his assailant.
