“Rally against family separation at the border and other immigrant rights abuses. The Link Light Rail stops only a few blocks away from the detention center. If you’re unable to use public transit, there may be parking available at the Angle Lake Park-n-Ride, but we encourage driving only if public transit is not an option, as there is limited space for vehicles.”

“Unspoken Rules of Small Group Playing. Joan Hickey and Joel Spencer, pianist and drummer from Chicago, will lead a workshop focusing on essentials of small group playing that are implicit and “between the lines” of a lead sheet: Intros, endings, vamps, tags. These performance practices, expected from a jazz player and learned through years of experience, are what make small group jazz playing a unique art form.”

Social Justice/Community Action: Solidarity Day at NWDC
“Over the past few weeks, we’ve seen another round of inhumane policy decisions out of DC, and community resistance has been fierce! On June 5th, we shut down the street outside ICE’s Seattle headquarters. On June 9th, we gathered outside the SeaTac Detention Center to demand the release of 200 people, including dozens who were separated from their children at the border. And on July 1, we’ll be back at Tacoma’s Immigration Prison, where 1,575 people are still caged while they await deportation hearings, including many transferred from SeaTac. [We’ll] show our solidarity with those in detention, our support for families visiting their loved ones, and our resistance to the oppressive immigration/prison system.”
