“Unspoken Rules of Small Group Playing. Joan Hickey and Joel Spencer, pianist and drummer from Chicago, will lead a workshop focusing on essentials of small group playing that are implicit and “between the lines” of a lead sheet: Intros, endings, vamps, tags. On June 5th, we shut down the street outside ICE’s Seattle headquarters. On June 9th, we gathered outside the SeaTac Detention Center to demand the release of 200 people, including dozens who were separated from their children at the border. And on July 1, we’ll be back at Tacoma’s Immigration Prison, where 1,575 people are still caged while they await deportation hearings, including many transferred from SeaTac.
