Brainpeople by Jose Rivera

Latino Theater Project Presents: Brainpeople — “Brainpeople written by Jose Rivera, is a deeply psychological story of three women and the life events that haunt them. A wealthy Puerto Rican woman who is still obsessively grieving the parents she lost at age eight sends her armored limousine out into a violent, dystopian Los Angeles to pick up two complete strangers and bring them back to her home for an exotic feast and deep conversation. A mixture of comedy and chaos ensues …

“This Pacific Northwest premiere is produced by Latino Theatre Projects in association with Theatre Off Jackson and is directed by Fernando Luna. The complex characters are portrayed by Alyssa Norling, Sofia Raquel Sanchez, and Vero LeCocq.” Playing nightly, Thurs–Sat through November 3.

Melodic Poetry of Phoebe Snow (A Tribute Show)

“‘Phoebe Ann Laub (July 17, 1950 – April 26, 2011) was born in New York City and grew up in Teaneck, N.J. After changing her name to Phoebe Snow, she would beocme one of the leading voices of the singer-songwriter movement, whose swooping vocal acrobatics transcended musical genres.’

“In honor of her life’s work and her dedication as a mother whose love is deemed unconditional, this show is an epitaph to her rich voice, her music and arrangements, and to the poetry she effectively left behind.

“To celebrate Phoebe Snow, Seattle born vocalist/producer Om Johari has put together an amazingly talented cast of some of the most vibrant musicians west of the Rockies. Eulogizing on vocals will be: Kimya Dawson, Alina Vida, Alex Rose, Adriana Giordano, JR Rhodes, Christa Wells, LaTanya Horace, Om Johari; Piping in rich sounds from the band will be: Brittany Davis – vocals and piano, Kathy Moore – guitars, Marina Christopher – vocals and contra/electric bass, Nia Neal – drums, Naomi Siegel – trombone, Jessica Lurie – flute, clarinet, and sax.” Two shows!

Drawing from a diverse range of musical styles and influences, Humble Urchin’s music spans multiple genres … ; Oliver Stellfox: After being a guitarist for 10+ years, a musical hiatus happened. Several years passed before the self-realization that the collection of creative outlets don’t have to be visually, musically, OR physically creative, they can be visually, musically, AND physically creative … ; The Late Style uses intricate fingerstyle guitar textures borrowing from jazz, pop, and classical styles to harmonize lyrical expressions of raw emotion, wordplay, and dark humor.” 21+

In Agnes Eggling’s apartment, a group of artists and activists struggle between their conscience and their comfort, trying to decide how much they are willing to sacrifice for their beliefs.
