Beacon Hill District 2 Candidate Forum

“The Beacon Business Alliance will co-host a D2 Candidate Forum in partnership with the Beacon Hill Council (BHC). This is an opportunity for the community to learn about candidates’ platforms, ask questions, register to vote, and more. The event is free! A short social hour will precede the forum, beginning at 5:30 PM, on the plaza adjacent to the venue.

“Our confirmed list of guests includes 16 candidates running for Seattle City Council, King County Council, Port of Seattle, and more. Follow BBA on Facebook for event and other community updates!

JamFest 10th Anniversary

“Celebrating our 10th anniversary, the Chinatown-International District’s JamFest activates the Canton Alley and Maynard Alley Party with activities for all ages! Featuring pop up art installations, live music and performances, mahjong and arcade games, local vendors, and a Happy Hour Food Walk – July, there’s an activity for everyone! Celebrate the international flavor of our community and all we have to offer. Admission by donation.

“Join us Saturday, July 20; 10 a.m.-3 p.m. for Farm Fest, a celebration of urban farming and community in Seattle’s Rainier Beach neighborhood!

“Enjoy storytime with Katherine Pryor reading Bea’s Bees at 10:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m. The first 30 kids at storytime will get a free copy of Bea’s Bees to take home! Dance Brazil will perform at 1:30 p.m. Also, get creative and assemble the herb crown of your dreams to wear while exploring the farm and beyond. FOOD — Enjoy tasty snacks and food from local vendors, including POP UP bike pops, Umami Kushi and Frelard Tamales!

Ragin’ Viet-Cajun

“Friends of Little Saigon presents Ragin’ Viet-Cajun, a summer pop-up celebrating food & community. Viet-Cajun cuisine is a cross-cultural union of two coastal communities, highlighting the journey of many southern Vietnamese immigrants and refugees. This event celebrates this journey and looks to the future of the dynamic flavors of our community.

“As you indulge in the hands-on spicy seafood experience, there will also be live DJs, a beer garden, karaoke, Vietnamese street wear, and more. Proceeds from this event will go to supporting the Little Saigon creative space, a community and arts space that promotes Vietnamese culture, identity, and programs.

Sofie Salonika & Slingshot

“Two great women-led bands, featuring new Sephardic Jewish music and spontaneous compositions! SOFIE SALONIKA is a hybrid group delving into Sephardic, Spanish, Turkish and Arabic songs, presenting concerts filled with compelling new interpretations on traditional works, and spicy, original Middle Eastern and Balkan-inspired compositions with hints of Bluegrass, Jazz and Nocturnal Funk. SLINGSHOT is a collective improvising group specializing in far flung free improvisations that aim high, led by Jessica Lurie and Heather Bentley and Beth Fleenor. This set will feature Robin Holcomb on piano; Jessica Lurie on woodwinds and electronics; Katie Down flute, glass instruments; Jonti Simon bass; and special guests!” The Royal Room is All Ages until 10 p.m.

“Inspired Child Love, Power & Purpose: exploring the power of our words and movements through spoken word, dance, art and activism. This program is a FREE 4-week intensive that will meet T&TH 2-5pm July 9 – August 1st @ Judkins Park it is comprised of dance & poetry workshops & art projects. It will culminate in a finale performance and the self-publishing of Vol. 4 of the Love, Power, & Purpose Chapbook featuring participant poetry.
