South End Stew: Colour

by K.D. Senior

Months pass, so many and so few,
as we join lips in vivid colour,
the closer I get to you.

As the seasons change,
what colour will there be
reflected in this hue?

Years pass, so many yet so few,
sharing distance and a world cut in two,
what remains are vivid colours,
though you are far from view.

As the seasons change,
what colour will there be,
reflected in our hue?

Time widens the gap
that memories pass through,
lingering in vivid colours,
whenever I remember you.

When the season changes,
what color will I look,
reflected in this hue?
