“’It Happened Here!’ is an afternoon outdoor talk series in Hing Hay Park featuring community speakers, local history, and neighborhood stories from Seattle’s International District. Co-Hosted by Wing Luke Museum, InterIm Community Development Association, Seattle Parks and Recreation, and the National Endowment for the Humanities. Bring a lunch and enjoy a story!

“You’ll learn choir parts and group sing with a bunch of strangers and probably have more fun than most other times in your life.
“Crowdsource Choir is a monthly drop-in choir in Seattle reinventing choir for the 21st century and recovering singing as an ancient communal art form that helps us participate in a magnificent whole.” No singing experience required.

Rainier Beach Back2School Bash
“This FREE EVENT is hosted by The Rainier Beach Action Coalition (RBAC) formally Rainier Beach Community Empowerment Coalition (RBCEC) and Rainier Beach Moving Forward (RBMF) in partnership with RBCC, volunteers residents and dozens of other organizations will sponsor the 16th Annual Rainier Beach Back 2 School Bash. The purpose of this event is the same it has been since the first one in 2003 – to affirm the greatness within each child and address social barriers they face to learning.
“This event has a rich history of strengthening neighborhood support for education, providing services to families in need and generating involvement in neighborhood projects that improve quality of life. Our goal is to provide students and families with backpacks, school supplies and information about neighborhood and educational resources, food, clothing and entertainment. Rizal Park Jazz Festival
“Celebrating 40 years of the naming Of this beautiful park and bridge after Dr Jose Rizal. A Filipino patriot and martyr who made many contributions in engineering, medicine, political and social reform.
“This beautiful park is on the north slope of Beacon hill with a an amazing view point of the city and Elliot bay, It was transferred to the park department in 1971 but was named after Dr Jose Rizal seven years later in 1979. The formal unveiling and dedication ceremony was on Sept 16, 1989 this included the naming of the bridge.
“Pls come and support this milestone event with great jazz music by local musicians, a special menu created by ‘Chef’ Henry Pacheco and fun for the whole family!”

“This summer, Jazz Night School will be returning to Columbia Park for the Big Jazz in the Park Concert Series. Held in conjunction with the Columbia City Farmers Market, Big Jazz in the Park is a beloved Jazz Night School tradition. These concerts provide a space for people to enjoy jazz, dance, and soak up the beautiful Pacific Northwest summer.
“The Big Jazz in the Park concerts showcase the talent and dedication of Jazz Night School students and shares the great American tradition of jazz music. It is also a great opportunity to build community in the Columbia City neighborhood. Big Jazz in the Park concerts are fun and free events for people of all ages.
“This second performance in the series will feature Big Band Blue – Jazz Night School’s premier big band made up of advanced learners and pro’s from around the region. Big Band Blue plays outstanding music from jazz greats plus new works by local composers/arrangers.”
