Tagalog sa King Street

“Join us for the workshop production of Tagalog sa King Street, a collection of one-act plays written and performed in Tagalog.

“With creative use of live English subtitles and shadow puppetry, non-Tagalog speaking audiences can enjoy the innovative, brave, new voices selected from the prestigious Virgin Labfest of the Cultural Center of the Philippines.

“Presented by the creative team comprised of Lorna Velasco, Joyce Juan Manalo, Ai Lalo, Alyza DelPan-Monley, Arlo Magpoc, Nina De Torres Ignacio, Leah Mitts, Manny Golez, and Pia Rivera.This event repeats on Saturday at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. See event for individual performance details.

Support WOC Running for School Board

“Our movement continues and it is time for more womxn of color to bring their power and voices to our schools! Join the Womxn of Color in Education Committee (WoCE) for an evening to celebrate and support the incredible womxn of color running for school board this year including Molly Mitchell, Rebeca Muniz, Chandra Hampson, Minal Ghassemieh, Maria Flores, Jane Aras and Luckisha Phillips.

“You will have an opportunity to hear from some of our endorsed candidates and to contribute to our fund to help get them across the finish line for the election this year.

“Light food and drinks will be provided! Come ready to mingle and to hear from incredible womxn in our community. Entrance into the event is free but we’ll be asking attendees to make a meaningful contribution. Hosted by Womxn of Color in Education Committee.

Join Jah living legends in concert as they share their sweet harmonies and crucial reggae anthems in an intimate venue.

“Led by Tabby’s unmistakable tenor, the Mighty Diamonds’ live show is a journey through the African Diaspora from gospel to R&B to roots reggae and dancehall, including cover songs by the Stylistics, Bob Marley, Curtis Mayfield, Jester Hairston, and Alton Ellis. 4th Seattle Urban Book Expo

“The Seattle Urban Book Expo returns with its most ambitious event to date. Join us, as we celebrate black and brown authors, and show their literary projects on a national stage.”  There are multiple events associated with the Seattle Urban Book Expo between 10/3–10/5. Dogtoberfest 2019

“Great local brews, dog costume contest, raffle prizes and amazing community spirit all come together at Urban Feed and Garden’s Dogtoberfest.

Kitchen Table Clay Sculpting

“Presented by Seniors Creating Art. Learn beginning pottery techniques with air-dry clay. Try different construction methods and a variety of decorative techniques with this easy-to-use material. You will learn about the history of pottery in the process. Take home examples of original work and learn about finishing techniques for them. All supplies provided. Dress for mess!

Social Justice Film Festival at the Duwamish Longhouse

“Join us for the third night of the Social Justice Film Festival at the Duwamish Longhouse and Cultural Center for two Indigenous Features! Festival Passes allow admission to all events and screening. Pass-holders are allowed first access to theaters, at 20 minutes before show time. Olivia Gatwood

“Olivia Gatwood Life of the Party US Tour w/ Ari Chi and special guest Cailin Nolte—Originally from Albuquerque, New Mexico, Olivia Gatwood has received national recognition for her poetry, writing workshops, and work as a Title IX Compliant educator in sexual assault prevention and recovery. As a finalist at Brave New Voices, Women of the World and the National Poetry Slam, Olivia’s performances have been featured on HBO, Huffington Post, MTV, VH1, and BBC among others. Her poems have appeared or are forthcoming in Muzzle Magazine, The Winter Tangerine Review, Poetry City U.S.A., Tinderbox Poetry Journal, and The Missouri Review. Her Amazon Best Selling collection, New American Best Friend, reflects her experiences growing up in both New Mexico and Trinidad, navigating girlhood, puberty, relationships, and period underwear. Olivia is a full-time touring artist, and has performed internationally at over two-hundred schools and universities.
