Skyway Opens New Medical Clinic at the Cynthia A Green Center

Tuesday morning brought the official opening of Healthpoint Medical Clinic at the Cynthia A Green Center (12704 76th Ave S Seattle, WA 98178).

The clinic will be open on Tuesday and Thursdays from 8:00am to 5:00pm and will offer Family Medicine – for adults, seniors, and children – family planning, immunizations and well-child exams, physicals and annual exams, diabetes education, behavioral health and counseling services, and nutrition counseling. Neighbors Collide Over Beacon Hill Intersection

An uninitiated pedestrian will find more than a few Seattle intersections daunting. The confluence of Columbian Way, Oregon Avenue, and 15th Avenue on Beacon Hill is one of those places. The arterial passage of Columbian Way, bearing heavy traffic heading to and from I-5, passes uncomfortably close to the traditional grid intersection of 15th and Oregon, leaving pedestrians and cyclists to navigate a network of crosswalks on the way to their destination. South Park Hall is Open for Events…and One Million Tampons

Corina Luckenbach stacks the latest haul of tampons atop a folding table at the near end of the expansive wooden dance floor in South Park Hall, the renovated event space she opened last year with her partner, Heidi Herr. Last week Luckenbach pledged to collect one million tampons for homeless youth, and she just surpassed 14,000. She’s got a long way to go to meet her goal, an intentionally ambitious benchmark she describes as a regular person’s version of Pearl Jam’s recent $1 million pledge toward ending homelessness. Victims of Recent Skyway Fires In Need of Community Assistance

Tukwila, Renton, and Skyway firefighters doused two similarly situated residential fires Monday, both in Skyway. Some residents of each face hardship, but there is at least one way to help.

The American Red Cross Northwest said they would assist a family of four, a mom and three children, affected by the fire on 76th Avenue South. The family that lived above the apartment that caught on fire, and the resident of that unit itself, are now displaced. Local Somali Community Bands Together to Create Children’s Book

Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan declared Friday, February 9 “Baro-Af Soomaali Day” during a celebration at the New Holly Gathering Hall honoring the families who created a children’s book for the Somali community. The celebration was the culmination of two years’ work by local Somali families, Seattle Public Schools, and the Seattle Public Library.
