Every day, Dave M. works in the Washington Corrections Center kitchen. He stands right next to fellow inmates, all of whom are currently without masks, to make meals for the rest of the prison’s population. He says nothing in the kitchens have been moved or changed to make it safer for himself and his fellow kitchen workers. All the measures the Department of Corrections has announced its prisons are taking? He says they’re just for show.

Protestors Amass at ICE Headquarters for Deadline to Reunite Families

Durkan Picks Carmen Best as New Seattle Police Chief

Office of Law Enforcement Oversight (OLEO) Report on the King County Sheriff’s Office

SEATTLE, WA — The King County Sheriff’s Office should revise its internal investigations complaint process, an independent group has found. The county’s Office of Law Enforcement Oversight (OLEO) asked the Connecticut-based Daigle Law Group to assess the effectiveness of the complaint process, and the report was presented to the King County Council Law and Justice Committee on Tuesday. At Forum, SPD Chief Candidates Answer Tough Questions On Race

SEATTLE, WA — The three candidates for the open Seattle police chief job met the public Wednesday night at a forum at the Seattle Vocational Institute in the heart of the Central District. The police reform group Not This Time organized the event, which was largely an opportunity for Seattle’s black community to ask the candidates about issues like racism, profiling, and officer-involved shootings.
