Emma Klein stood in a line of people locked together at the wrists outside of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) headquarters on the 29th floor of a building in Downtown Seattle Aug. 8. She was one of 10 people blocking two entrances into the office to disrupt business for ICE to protest the escalating actions against people seeking asylum and undocumented immigrants in the United States.

SeaTac Hub of Community and Culture Faces Displacement

SeaTac Center, the two-story strip mall that takes up a slanted lot between 154th St and 152nd St, is a hub of commerce and culture. The shops that now occupy the location of a former casino and warehouse offer a place for East African, Latino, and Southeast Asian immigrants to gather, shop, eat, and establish their own cultural space in South King County.

More than a thousand people crowded into Temple De Hirsch Sinai while at least as many filled the street outside the synagogue during a vigil for the 11 people killed at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on Saturday, October 27.
