Black & Tan Hall is launching a pop-up residency for chefs at the new Black & Tan Hall performance venue and community space scheduled to open later this year. Recently they created a survey to gauge interest in the residency from chefs.

OPINION: Why Local Jazz Must Survive

If drummer D’Vonne Lewis isn’t the hardest working musician on the Seattle jazz scene, he is, by all accounts, in the top 1%. Typically, he played two to three gigs per day, every day of the week. Lewis was so busy he even stopped practicing because, spending all his time playing live music, he, his ear, and his body already knew the drill. 

Then came the COVID-19 pandemic and performances started cancelling. 

“Oh man, this is getting ugly,” Lewis remembers thinking.

Midnight Mecca Rings In New Year, Hillman City’s Black & Tan Hall

With StasTheeBoss of Thee Satisfaction DJ’ing through the night, Hillman City welcomed 2017 from its newest gathering spot, Black & Tan Hall. The venue hosted the 2nd Annual Midnight Mecca New Year’s Eve Ball, which centered Seattle’s queer and trans people of color (QTPOC), and also served as the hall’s grand opening celebration.
