PHOTOS: Alleycat Acres Celebrates Community Farm at Fall Festival

Beneath a tent along the little lane at the back of South Estelle Street, children painted freshly picked pumpkins, as others eagerly fed and petted chickens in a mobile coop a few feet away. Though neither the coop nor the tent were permanent, greenery surrounding the was: the lane is the site of Wetmore Community Farm, and Saturday saw the farm’s official grand opening.

Seattle Betsuin Temple Celebrates 86th Annual Bon Odori Festival

Colorful ribbons of sticky syrup trailed down children’s chins as their spoonfuls of shaved ice rapidly melted beneath a warm sun. Nearby, teens helped one another dress in yukata, Japanese summer garments made of light cotton, and settled with their families under tents to enjoy the night’s festivities.

Columbia City Ale House Employee Detained by ICE Agents

Miguel Martinez decided to work a double shift at Columbia City Ale House Tuesday. He was tired, but looking forward to getting home to his children, who are visiting from Florida, where they live with their mother. Ambling outside into the sunshine for a quick break and to move his car before his next shift began, Martinez met with the last thing he’d expected: two Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents dressed in plainclothes.
