Unlock The Con Brings Fan-Forward Comic Cons to an Auburn Outlet Mall

Unlock The Con, a collectibles store in the heart of the Outlet Collection Seattle mall in Auburn, is a treasure trove for local collectors to find new, discontinued, and even autographed collectibles. Entering the store, customers meet with dozens of statues and hundreds of figures based on characters from movies and television. Most notably, the store focuses on selling “Pop!” figures by Everett-based toy maker Funko, whose line-up of figures depicts licensed characters and icons. From Star Wars figures to Marvel superheroes, and even presidents, any customer is bound to find something they like. However, many fans of Unlock The Con know the shop for the comic-con-style events they host in-store every few months. As a result of growing popularity, the store has upgraded to a larger location in the mall — doubling in size with the intention of keeping the comic con experience going year-round.

Queer Icon Poison Ivy Comes Home to Seattle With All Her Delicious Danger

She’s green, beautiful, and deadly poisonous. Reborn into many timelines, Poison Ivy is the femme fatale villain DC fans look out for. Part human and plant, Ivy is angered by the way humanity has treated Earth and is frequently one of Batman’s nemeses and a love interest of Harley Quinn. She’s often caught wreaking havoc on polluting corporations with her notorious ability to control plants.

Nepantla Cultural Arts Gallery Features Comics Art Show by Chicano Artists

The Nepantla Cultural Arts Gallery, located in White Center, is a multiuse, multicultural, accessible arts gallery grounded in the Chicano and Latino arts traditions. Its March exhibition is called “Ka-Pow: An Artistic Tribute to Comics.” Much of the art showcased includes work from local artists, while other pieces have been sent in from all over the country. All money from art sales goes directly to the artists, says Jake Prendez, owner and codirector at the Gallery.

Specs Wizard and Friends Celebrate Black Comic Book Hero ‘Achiever ’

Michael Hall, better known in Seattle as Specs Wizard, has been involved in hip hop culture since the 80’s. Specs grew up in a family that was into music and that early exposure set him on course to becoming an artist himself.
