Filipino American Friendship Day

“This will be a whole day event full of live entertainment, display of Filipino’s arts and crafts, food galore and unity amongst Filipino-Americans to take pride of the restoration of the said park that symbolizes Filipinos pride and honor!

“This first project we’re doing on July 4th is only the beginning, but we hope to gain more support from our kababayans and neighboring communities as our intent and goal is to make this a beautiful park for everyone to enjoy particularly to all Filipinos around the world!

“Please share and invite this event to help us spread the word!”

Get Spoked! Womxn, Trans, Gender Non-Binary VRP/Open Shop

“Every 1st Wednesday of the month from 6 – 9 PM, we’re hosting a Volunteer Repair Party (VRP)/Open Shop specifically for folks who identify as women, trans, or gender non-binary to come together in an inclusive space to repair bikes for the community, or get help from an experienced mechanic to work on your own bike.

“All mechanic skills, experiences, and confidence levels are welcome! Nothing demystifies bike mechanics like picking up a wrench under the non-judgmental mentorship of a Bike Works staff person.”

Music Premiere: Chava Mirel Takes on Alice in Chains on her New Album

Seattle-based songwriter, Chava Mirel, composes cocoons that transform both performer and listener. Her latest album, the full-length Into The Light, is a deeply personal offering. It delves into self-doubt, gnarled ideas of love and how to transform oneself through difficulties both mental and physical. The Emerald is excited to debut the lead single from the album, a cover of the iconic grunge song, “Would?” by Alice In Chains.
