Plus, there is City Council legislation being proposed to protect reproductive rights and gender-affirming care, the Jan. 6 hearings are over until the fall but went out for the summer with some revealing testimony about former President Trump’s whereabouts during a crucial 187 minutes.

In anticipation of possible future Supreme Court decisions ahead, the House just passed legislation to protect marriage equality, but the fight is not quite over. Mayor Bruce Harrell has also nominated a new director for the Office of Police Accountability; plus, we offer a brief recap of his plans to bring more police to Seattle and City Council’s new legislation to strengthen police accountability.

On a brighter note, it has been some time since the Duwamish River has looked as sparkly as it does now. Don’t miss the free all-day festival that pays homage to the importance of clean water through art, activities, and community.

Ethiopian Community Village Development to Provide Affordable Housing Units in Rainier Beach

To get more information to you, our readers, News Gleams are now moving to twice a week, on Monday mornings and Wednesday afternoons! To start off this week, we recap the seventh Jan. 6 hearing, which focused on white nationalist groups; the next session takes place on July 19 with a primetime evening slot.
