Movies: The Jungle Book– Details: An epic adventure about Mowgli, a man-cub who’s been raised by a family of wolves. Community: Bridge 2 Beach Earth Day Clean Up– Details: Bridge-2-Beach with Comcast Cares Day! On April 30, for the first time, Comcast Cares Day partners with the annual Bridge-2-Beach Rainier Valley Earth Day Clean Up to coordinate a day of giving back to the vibrant neighborhoods of SE Seattle. Imagine over 600 volunteers coming together to paint murals, plant flowers, clean up litter, window-wash neighborhood businesses, and much more! Community: Hillman City Community Clean Up – Details: It’s time for another Hillman City cleanup, please join us! Not only are Emerald City Comicon 2016 {Community} Superhero capes available for volunteers, along with a hot cup of coffee from Tin Umbrella Coffee — clean streets are a simple, direct way to make a difference (even reduce crime) in our neighborhood, all while having fun meeting neighbors, business owners & making new friends. Get help from KCLS volunteers with computer basics, Microsoft Office, Internet, email and computer learning resources. Community: WHAM Action Party: Spring Cleanup 2016 –Details: Meet us at King County Fire District 20 at 9:00am for hot coffee, tea and light snacks. Put on your vests, gloves and hard hats provided by King County Adopt-a-Road and head out with your own favorite weeding tools. Collection bags and litter pickup sticks are provided. This year we will be pulling weeds and collecting litter on Renton Ave. S. between 75th and 76th Ave. S. At noon, we’ll return to the Fire Station to celebrate the results. WHCA will be providing a free, healthy lunch catered by PCC Natural Markets. Our King County CSA grant allows us to provide food and refreshments. Art: May Backstreet Bazaar – Details: This months Backstreet Bazzaar features Allison Skula. Allison Skula is a Seattle-based artist working in photo collage, graphic design, illustration, printmaking, and everything else in reach. She explores ordinary subjects in an altered reality, resulting in nontraditional, off-kilter portraits and scenery. The Delvon Lamarr Organ Trio will be showcasing their amazing talents and making the crowd move it and feel it! Definitely stop by to witness this incredible bands performance! Music: Street Requiem for Those Living and Dying on the Streets ft Gabriella Duncan– Details: Come experience for one night only a stage full of volunteer singers & musicians from the Pacific Northwest as they share their passion for music to help the homeless with the Seattle premier of Street Requiem. Music: Club Shostakovich XV: The Lost Composers–Details: Club Shostakovich XV – The Final Quartet and The Lost Composers. To celebrate Shostakovich’s last quartet and his deep impact on 20th century music, we’re featuring music by composers murdered in World War II whose music might have profoundly altered the sound of the century. String Trios and Quartets by Hans Krása, Erwin Schulhoff and Pavel Haas will be performed by Trio Pardalote and the Girsky Quartet with guest violist Joseph Gottesman. Violinist Blayne Barnes joins Heather Bentley and Rowena Hammill with the illustrious Misha Shmidt leading Shostakovich’s 15th Quartet, which premiered less than a year before his death. Comprising 6 slow movements and clocking in at 36 minutes, it is the longest of the 15 quartets, and also one of the most transcendent.
